Following the recent Special General Meetings in October and November this year in order to secure an Annual Levy the EIBA Board recognised that the time was right for the Company to engage with its membership to plan a collective Strategic Plan for the next 5 years.

To start this formal process, I will be looking to host Seminars around the Country and would like to invite two representatives of your Management Committee to attend. There will be 18 of these events, based upon the National Competition areas (details are below with this communication), over a 3-week period from the middle of January 2018.

It is hoped that you will be able be represented and contribute to the discussions around key areas for consideration. These include: -
  1. Governance of the sport and appropriate guidance / support to Clubs and Counties
  2. Finance – including the way any affiliation / levy fees are collected
  3. Growth and sustainability of the game
  4. Commercial activities
  5. Communication
You may have heard this proposed regulation which comes into force on 25th May 2018. The EIBA, along with other Bowls National Governing Bodies and Legal advisors, are working on producing appropriate guidelines to help Clubs and Counties ensure they are compliant

We are aiming for information to be distributed towards the end of January 2018, following key meetings in the first half of the month.
However, in the meantime we would encourage you to start the process of collating what personal information (data) you obtain from your members, customers, how it is held and what you use the information for.

This area will be discussed at the Area Seminars, if you have any immediate questions please contact Steve Rodwell - Development Manager via email steverodwell@eiba.co.uk or by calling 01664 484921.

The EIBA is committed in providing competitive playing opportunities for all ages and to expand the Development Pathway offered there will be an Under 18 Mixed Inter County Competition introduced for the Competition programme for the 2018-2019 season.

The format will be a double rink triples, unlimited entries, played in a round robin regional groups with the group winners progressing to the National Finals Week.

It is hoped that this competition is just the start and that a similar competition can be introduced for Clubs the following season. Full details will be provided when the 2018-2019 National Competition details are issued at the end of January 2018.
